The birthday

I share my birthday with 3 of the best people I know. I was 23 years old before I had a birthday cake I did not have to share with someone else. My twin sister and I were born on my father's birthday which was the day after his dad's birthday. So within 2 days we had 4 birthdays in our family. We always had a big party and a good time. It's been several years since we were all together on our birthday. I alwasy try to be the first to call and wish the other 2 happy birthday or beat them to the facebook birthday wish. Two years ago I was pregnant with our second child and my due date was May 8. I knew I would have a csection a few days before the due date and my birthday was only 10 days before my due date. I knew I wanted to have the baby on my birthday. Who could pass up a chance to extend the tradition by another generation? So now my son shares this special day. I hope it means as much to him growing up as it did to me.

9 year meetiversary

April 7, 2003 I went on a blind date that was put into motion on moving day by my then pregnant sister. It was March and I was moving out of seminary housing into an apartment with a friend...little did we know that a year later when we moved out of that apartment it would be b/c we were both getting married. Some of my family, including my sister who was 6 months pregnant and a few friends came over to help me move. Now if you don't know this about pregnant women they get all hormonal and happy and want everybody they know to be married, pregnant, fat and happy too. So she asked my friends if didn't they know somebody they could fix me up with. Turns out they did. A few weeks later I was talked into meeting them and this guy I did not know at a bbq place for lunch. 9 years later I went to lunch with the same guy again. This time we were joined by a 5 year old and an almost 2 year old who are a good mix of us both.

The toddler bed

Two years ago I cleaned out the guest room, my hubby painted the walls guacamole green and put together a brand new crib. I washed bedding and hung up a valance and washed tons of little tiny onesies and sleepers. For weeks I would tuck my then 3 year old daughter into bed and walk by that empty room and pause at the door. I would rub my extra large tummy and smile at the empty crib wondering what the baby would look like that would sleep there. This month that sweet baby boy we anticipated so much will be 2! Last month we had to change his bed from a crib to a toddler bed and I had to undo the bumper pads I tied on so carefully and put them away. The daycare has already moved him to the 2 year old room and says he is much easier to deal with b/c they go outside more and he can play in the big yard and not the baby yard. I have so loved watching my little man grow and change. His first year was rough but this second year has been such a joy! He has such a pleasant, loving personality. I'm a little sad my little man is growing up but so happy to have him in my life.
